Breadbox Farm Rabbit Rescue
We believe that as breeders, it is our responsibility to use our vast rabbit knowledge to also help the rabbits in need in our community. We know that every living creature deserves compassion and gentle care. It is our mission to find these rabbits their place in the world, spread awareness about proper rabbit care, and to help others make good decisions for the rabbits in their lives.
The following rabbits are looking for a loving family. They have either been dropped off directly to us, rescued by one of our local shelters, or have been raised at a rabbitry but have special needs. They will need attentive care and patience as they grow to trust you and learn to love again.
Each rabbit is carefully monitored for health concerns and aggressive behaviors before being offered for adoption, but we cannot guarantee the temperaments of these rabbits like we can our own. We believe that there is a family out there for every rabbit, regardless of their hard past, different ability levels, or trust issues.
When you are ready to adopt a pet, please fill out an Adoption Application Form and Robin or Lisa will contact you if approved to set up an appointment time. To reserve a rabbit you will be required to pay in full through an electronic form of payment.
PICK UP and TRANSPORT OPTIONS
LOCAL PICK UP is available once you are approved for adoption. We have many clients who drive in from the surrounding states. In many instances you may take home your bunny the day you meet them (check for a “ready to go home” date on bunnies under 8 weeks old.)
PRIVATE TRANSPORT and DELIVERY is available through third party transporters. A quick google search will bring up many options. You will be responsible for choosing a transporter you trust and securing your own transportation. We are happy to arrange pick up times with them. We trust Mabel with LC Animal Transport, her number is 347-819-4372. You can reach out to her for timing and transport rates.
DOMESTIC AIRLINE TRANSPORT is also possible through American PetEmbark. You can expect to pay approximately $550-750 total depending on how far the pet is going and miscellaneous fees associated with your pet flying, such as a proper crate for the flight ($60-80) and a required health certificate ($70-90) within 10 days of departure. We have sent many rabbits as far as California and Washington and feel strongly that American Airlines is a safe and trustworthy option for receiving your new pet.
Chelsea | Chestnut Netherland Dwarf | $300
-
Sex: Female
Born: 4/29/23
Breed: Netherland Dwarf
Variety: Chestnut
Weight: 2.5 lbs
-
Chelsea is a super diva. Instead of sugar and spice, she is mostly just sassy and spice with some serious cage aggression. She has been known to lunge at our hands when entering her cage. While she does not often bite, it can be quite scary if you aren’t expecting this.
For this reason Chelsea needs an experienced animal person who can deal with some sass. We think she is absolutely perfect just the way she is! But we do want to prepare whoever takes her home with some lessons about how to improve aggressive tendencies.
Cage aggression is when a rabbit (often female) becomes protective of their “burrow” and lunges and sometimes even nips anyone who tries to enter the space. This can make feeding time complicated if you are placing the bowl inside a cage. They can still be very friendly and social outside of their defined burrow space. Chelsea’s attitude is much improved when she is outside of her cage and when she has the space to exercise freely. Doing zoomies and binkies helps rabbits deal with pent up energy and resets their nervous system. For these reasons, we would like to find Chelsea a home where she has access to some exercise space at least once a day. We would also suggest feeding her outside of her “burrow” space.
She is one of the most beautiful chestnut ladies that has ever grown up here, but due to her slight aggressive tendencies we decided not to move forward with her in our breeding program. Besides that, she is in perfect health, loves to eat, and will be easy to win over if you are patient with her. She is used to being held and carried around the house and is a good lap bunny. She deserves the world, and we know there is someone out there who will admire her more spicy tendencies.

Chelsea is not fixed so consider the cost of a spay if you are hoping to bring her home with other rabbits.
S’mores and Ella | Bonded Holland Lop Girls | $500 Pair

These girls are sweet as pie!! They were raised by children in their previous home and were in excellent condition when dropped off to us. Their family was simply going through big life changes and needed to rehome them. They are stunning, young, and healthy. Really, they are the ideal rescue situation which is rare!
Overall, they are very easy to handle and sit with. They are used to being picked up and will relax completely in your hands if held properly. We have been nibbled a bit here and there, but it is a big change to come to our program with so many people around all the time and we think it is simply them adjusting to our situation.
This duo would do well in a variety of home situations, but they must go together as they have been bonded since they were babies. Gentle children that can respect boundaries and begin to learn rabbit body language would do well with these ladies.
-
These babies have not been fixed! If you would like to home rabbits together, fixing them is the best option, so consider the costs of surgeries.
Blue Eyed Baby Lionheads | Dancer, Prancer, Vixen - All Girls | $300 each
-
Breed: 100% Lionhead
DOB: 8/7/24
Size: about 2 lbs, but still growing
Color: All white, with blue eyes
Special Notes: Long Haired! So pretty!
-
These babies were an accidental litter, but have been extremely well cared for. They trust humans and are very friendly, although do not love being picked up. They will however jump right into your lap if you sit on the ground near them. We will continue to build trust around lifting them off the ground this while they grow here.
Each one is just darling and they are stunningly beautiful. The sapphire blue eyes are enchanting. These little ones are kind of the perfect rescue situation for a few families out there. They were raised well, are still babies, and are healthy.
They would do well in a variety of homes and can go home singly or as pairs or a group.

Sophie | Chinchilla Female | $200
-
Breed: Mixed
Sex: Female
DOB: 6/21/2024
Size: Full grown size - 3 lbs
Color Variety: Chinchilla
-
During a bunny cuddle event, Serafina, one of our Netherland Dwarfs, and Winter, a rehabilitated bad boy rescue bun with a dark and stormy past, found their way together. And yea, I mean together. One month later their new family was expanded into these three silver babes. Sophie is the last one available.
We have raised them as we do all Breadbox bunnies with constant touch and affection and they have been involved in all of our Cuddle Events so they are very used to people and kids.
Sophie has a reserved personality and needs someone that will be patient with her, understanding she needs to build trust over time. She would do well in a home with an adult or an older child that will be patient and able to continue working with her to earn her trust.

These babies are not fixed, so plan to get them spayed or neutered if you choose to home them with other rabbits.
Aria | Chestnut Female | $200
-
Breed: Mixed
DOB: 5/27/2024
Size: Full grown size- slightly smaller than a house cat.
Colors: Chestnut
-
Aria is the daughter of rescue bunny Annie. She is a mixed breed rabbit, but was raised at Breadbox Farm. She lives outdoors most of the time and would make a wonderful garden pet. She is very friendly and loves to take fresh greens from our hands. Her activity level is medium, meaning she is not lazy, but she would do well with a large area to play in.
Aria is hard to catch, but is used to being held in our laps. She would do well in a variety of home situations and does get along with other rabbits.
-
Aria is not fixed, so plan to get her spayed at 6 months if you choose to home her with other rabbits.
Annie | Mixed Breed | Chestnut Female | $200
-
Breed: Mixed
Variety: Chestnut
Age: Approximately 3 years
Size: About the Size of a House Cat
-
Annie is a gentle giant, she is generally very calm and socializes well with people. She came in pregnant and had babies at Breadbox Farm. She is a great mother and still lives with one of her daughters, Aria.
Annie could do well in a variety of environments and is usually homed outdoors at Breadbox Farm. She would make a lovely garden pet with a lot of space to run around.
Annie is easy to handle for an experienced rabbit person, but hard to catch if she is free. Once you have her she will sit in your lap for hours.

Winter | Himalayan Male | $200
-
Breed: Himalayan
Sex: male (not neutered)
Age: Under 3 years
Full Grown Size:Smaller than a house cat
-
Winter came to us emaciated and dirty coming from an unsafe situation. He was so dirty we couldn’t even tell he was white. Surprisingly, he was still friendly and will come right up to you for food and pets once you have won his trust.
After a couple months at Breadbox, he has transformed! He is now a healthy weight with a white coat and shading on his ears and feet. Winter has ruby colored eyes and is a little smaller than a house cat.
We have learned that he is confident and determined, and quite the escape artist. But he is loyal to a fault! He won’t ever leave you. Once he escapes his pen, he happily hops through our gardens munching away the lambs ear plants.
Winter would do really well as a garden pet as he is most comfortable outside and would love to have space to run around.
-
Winter is not fixed so consider the cost of a neuter if you choose to home him with other rabbits.
*RESERVED for ANGELA
Haley | Self Chocolate Female | $200
-
Breed: Netherland Dwarf
DOB: 2/15/2023
Size: Smaller than a house cat
Colors: Self Chocolate
-
Haley is a beautiful chocolate bunny with a spicy side. When her previous family got a dog, Haley became aggressive and has been struggling to rebuild trust with humans. She does love affection and being pet. She was showing minor cage aggression when she arrived, but that has now been resolved.
Haley needs a home where she can be the center of attention without dogs and small children. We do still think she would get along with another rabbit, but have not tried bonding her here yet.
Since Haley was raised here, we have high hopes for her building trust with a special person over time.
-
Haley is not fixed, so plan to get her spayed if you choose to home her with other rabbits.

Ways to Help our Breadbox Rescue Program
Share. Spread the word about our available rabbits on social media. Find us @breadboxfarm. This helps more than you think!
Donate your time. We are always happy to include new volunteers in cleaning cages, socializing shy rabbits, and feeding and watering the herd. Email us if you’d like to donate your time.
Build. More cages and rabbit runs mean we can save more rabbits in a healthy, clean, and enriching environment! We currently need individuals willing to donate their time and carpentry skills building hutches and runs.
Donate. The Breadbox Rescue Program is sustained on donations, community support, and A LOT of hard work and emotional moments behind the scenes. We try to keep a reserve of $400-600 at all times in our rescue fund for possible emergency health care costs. And we are currently saving to build 6 more hutches with a large attached play yard. 100% of your financial donation goes directly to providing for rescue rabbits. Our breeding program and all business related to it is a separate entity.
